This exhibit is a retrospective consisting of primarily oil paintings. Also included are a several ceramic works and several woven bark sculptures.

John Steines was born in Marshfield, WI., and grew up on a farm in Marathon County . He now lives in Madison, WI. He is a graduate of the UW Madison School of Nursing (1975). John intentionally studied art independently , has done advanced work at UW Madison with Carol Pylant and Richard Long, and worked with Tom Sobota in Fort Atkinson. His special interests are wellness studies and complexity.
John is co-founder, spokesperson and co-chair of Friends Of Starkweather Creek; fire keeper for the Starkweather Solstice; past President of Perfect Harmony Men’s Chorus (2008-2011); producer and co-writer of RIOT ACTS, celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Stonewall riots (2009); SASY neighborhood representative; and is currently working with a team of community residents to save the Garver Sugar Beet Factory in Madison from destruction. He speaks to students at Edgewood College School of Nursing and UW Madison Genetics every semester. Opening Receptions:
